The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Diane Labkon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Little girls together

Here it is the last week of April and I've just learned of Diane's death. I lived on the 6600 block of Richmond and she was on the 6600 block of Mozart. We played together after school. We cut out valentines together on the floor of her den. I can picture putting my drawstring purse on the hall table as I came into the house for Diane's seventh birthday party. We pooled our own money and the two of us bought Mrs. McNally, our second grade teacher, a "spring bouquet."  We grew up together as friends going to Boone School in the West Rogers Park neighborhood. Along with many of our girlfriends, we were part of the JUGS (Just Us Girls). Her brother Dickie was so handsome. She should be having a birthday party right around now.
