Howard A. Mirsky, age 84, beloved son of the late Ruben and late Jeanette Mirsky, nee Shinitsky; cherished cousin of Robin and Alan Cohn, Irene and Arthur Noparstak, Eileen Kandel, Bernice and Roy Tiefeld and Edwin Shinitsky. Howard was a respected friend of Rabbi Barry Schecter of Congregation Kol Emeth, where he was a member for 40 years. He was an active member of the Central Essential Tremor Group… a friend to the 40 plus members and never missed a meeting. Howard graduated from the University of Illinois Pharmacy School. He was a respected pharmacist and store owner (Sols Pharmacy) serving the Jeffrey Manor community for years. In retirement, he was passionate activist in health care issues, he wrote letters on behalf of socially relevant damaging health issues to the State of Illinois, councilman, and the City of Chicago in support of the stricken masses. Howard was written up in news articles, radio shows, etc. for his passion about doing the right thing for the right causes. Howard was a simple and private man, who loved his family, enjoyed being part of family functions and as stated, a man who stood up for the underdog! Lastly, he had a great love for classical music, the symphony and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; he relished their 2016 World Series win. Graveside services were held Friday, October 26th at Waldheim Cemetery, Forest Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Congregation Kol Emeth, 5130 W. Touhy Ave., Skokie, IL 60077.
