Maxine S. "Macky" Kane (Klemptner)
Maxine “Macky” Kane, nee Klemptner, age 76, after a valiant 2 1/2-year battle, surrounded by her family who dearly loved her, succumbed to her glioblastoma. Macky was a truly good person who always put family and friends ahead of herself. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Larry, for 54 1/2 wonderful years. They were best friends. Besides Larry, she leaves behind three children, Melissa (Tim Hyde), Susan, and Greg (Elizabeth), and seven grandchildren, Daniel, Isabelle, Nathan, Abigail, Adeline, Lucy, and Sarah, as well as her sister Joan (Roger) Gold and their children, Andrew and Alison, all of whom she adored and delighted in being with. Macky, a retired schoolteacher, was a gifted docent at the Art Institute of Chicago for 20 years. She loved reading, art, the CSO, travel, and life itself. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, who loved her back in equal measure. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2:00 pm at B’nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, 1201 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield. If you care to make a donation in her memory, please make it to the charity of your choice. For condolence information: The Goldman Funeral Group, www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com (847) 478-1600.
