Obituary for Mike Kacyn

Mike (Meyer, Mario) Kacyn born February 28, 1926, to Abraham (z’l) and Devorah (z’l) Kacyn in Bialystok, Poland, passed away on January 21.
Beloved husband of 69 years to Clara, father to Lillian (Alan) Acker and Louis Kacyn (z’l). The most wonderful grandfather to Steven (Beth) Acker, Kenneth (Lindsay) Acker, Daniel Acker, Jennifer (Adam) Sherman, Robin Kacyn (Matt Chapman), Anna (Guillame) Labat, Scott (Mary Beth) Kacyn, Marc Kacyn, and Matthew Kacyn. Lucky great grandfather to David, Shayna, and Judah Sherman; Claire, Louis, and Henri Labat; and Michael Jay Kacyn. Mike is survived by his loving nephew Robert (Christina) Soriano, by his sister-in-law, Lidia (Simon) Cobal, and several cousins, cousins-in-law, and other relatives and friends in the U.S. and Argentina.
Mike grew up in Argentina from the age of three, spent his formative years there where he met his wife, started his family, and learned to love and play fútbol (River Plate will always be his team).
An accountant by education, he also was an astute business person which caught the attention of his uncle Ralph Tucker who brought him and family to the U.S. in 1963. Mike was an avid reader of politics and history and enjoyed good discussions with family and friends. He was most proud of becoming a U.S. citizen and being able to vote.
He loved to travel with Clara and always enjoyed a fine meal.
A caring, compassionate, and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor and who always told jokes. To Mike, family was everything. He will be missed by all who knew him. Service Friday, 12 Noon, at The Chapel, 8851 Skokie Blvd., Skokie (at Niles Center Rd.). Interment Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge.
