The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jerome Emer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Northbrook Park District Humanities Group, Friday mornings
This is a tribute to Jerry Emer from his beloved literary Humanities Group. Jerry was our facilitator for more than 6 years, weekly. We love him and give him our gratitude. Jerry loved the field of mathematics. Yes, like E=mc2. For Jerry, E stands for excellence, M for manhood and C for conscientiousness When anyone had a birthday in our group, Jerry would go to the blackboard and write an equation (in base 2 or base 10) to guess the actual date of the birthday! When numbers were used in our literature, Jerry would recheck them! We averaged about 15 people each week. We studied short stories and literature. Jerry was so diligent. He would spend hours each week preparing background research for our readings. Chicago weather would not prevent him from coming to every session! Jerry was an extremely humble and gracious guy. He always respected everyone's opinion and would often give his time to others and go last. Yet, Jerry is first, first in all our hearts... On behalf of the Humanities Group, Bill Schwartz

Jerry was a great person and mentor to many in not only accounting but in life. His children and grandchildren should be very proud of Jerry.
